Green Tea for Breast Cancer

Green tea has many health benefits, some have been proven and some may just be folklore. One particular effect that green tea seems to have is to fight and/or prevent breast cancer.
Green Tea Protect From Breast Cancer

Drinking green tea may help protect women from getting breast cancer — that’s the good news from a study by researchers at the Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health.

Green tea and breast-cancer connection

Green tea may help prevent breast cancer, based on one study in Asian women. Two population studies also found that Asian women with early-stage breast cancer (stages one and two) who drank three to five cups of green tea per day didn’t have as many recurrences. The researchers didn’t see these benefits for women with later-stage tumors.

Green Tea Slows Breast Cancer

I love to drink green tea. In the news is an intriguing claim that a chemical found in this beverage may be a powerful weapon against breast cancer. Before you stock up on green tea bags, you can learn a bit more about this “miracle tea” and the science of antioxidants.

Prevent Breast Cancer with Green Tea

Black tea—the favorite tea choice of most Westerners—may not provide the same benefits as its Asian cousin. “Five cohort studies demonstrated a modest increase in risk [for breast cancer] associated with black tea intake.” Black tea shows no protection from breast cancer, but still provides other positive health effects.

Still, green tea’s effect upon preventing breast cancer is enough of a reason to head to the grocery store. The powerful antioxidant EGCG present in those little green leaves inhibit the growth of cancer cells, help lower LDL cholesterol, and even inhibit the abnormal formation of blood clots.
